The Hand Turkey Jive

25 Nov

Who decided that this:

handtraceWould make a good representation of this:

turkey

Even if you did this to it:

handturkey1

It still doesn’t look like this:

turkey

It’s as if you would have to break your fingers before you trace them in order to get something close:

handturkey2

This:

handtrace

If you flip it upside down:

inverthandtrace

Wouldn’t you agree…makes a better this:

jellyfish1

See?

jellyfish

Happy Thanksgiving:

I finally have a good reason to break my fingers…

    Happy Thanksgiving!

It looks like the realm of technically accurate hand turkeys is only accessible to those with amputated fingers. The rest of us can only dream.

      Score one for the amputees…

      • David Stewart November 25, 2013 at 10:10 AM #

        It’s about time, eh?

This Aftermath premise has been in my drafts forever. I thought I would share:

There is a cult named: The Black Eyes for their burnt out eye sockets due to their believing that spending time in the Aftermath sun will raise them to a higher plane of existence. Everyone avoids this cult when ever they show up. A little boy stumbles across a dead cult member outside the make-shift walls of a city and is blamed for killing her….that is all…

nice! sounds like a great story. I’m still wanting to write about the little boy that Edward met and how he escaped from the pirate city of Ipswitch.

We need to turn this into a TV series for AMC

I love the hand turkey. It was the one art project that’s pretty difficult to botch (because it’s just so awful in theory).

You are so clever. What if you traced around your fingers while the were closed? Sort of a half fist?

    • Christopher De Voss November 25, 2013 at 10:20 AM #

I’m not that clever, I never thought of that!

Ha! Chris, you’re right. But, I just love the hand turkeys, or at least the ones my kiddies make. That hand can turn up just about anywhere. Happy Thanksgiving to you! What’s in the dish? Do I see octopus?

    • Christopher De Voss November 25, 2013 at 2:57 PM #

Yes! For thanksgiving dinner! Because hand squid instead of hand turkey…

    Turkey jazz hands.

all i can think of is the old halloween prank of filing a rubber glove with water or jello and freezing it. oops – wrong holiday )

    • Christopher De Voss November 25, 2013 at 7:12 PM #

What do you do with the glove after you freeze it?

      • ksbeth November 25, 2013 at 7:17 PM #

it depends on your hobbies, and who am i to judge? for me, the water filled one is good to float in a punch bowl instead of a boring ice ring. and the jello one is for people to grab onto and get freaked out.

      • Christopher De Voss November 25, 2013 at 7:53 PM #

        OK, that makes sense.

  9. 1jaded1 November 25, 2013 at 11:27 PM #

Hmm, if you turned the turkey pic around, it may resemble a hand. Don’t mind me, though, I can’t draw a straight line. Can’t even trace a curvy one.

    • Christopher De Voss November 25, 2013 at 11:55 PM #

      Try with your eyes closed.

      • 1jaded1 November 26, 2013 at 1:20 AM #

I’d have to get along with myself to do that. I’ll just use my imagination. Happy Thanksgiving!

      • Christopher De Voss November 26, 2013 at 7:38 AM #

        Happy Thanksgiving!

Y’know some of the best art comes from those sources untapped. This is genius stuff. The kids on my unit would go bonkers (in a good way) with these parallels. Thanks…!

    Must hand it to you…

  12. ohlidia November 26, 2013 at 11:45 AM #

I agree with you Chris… Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t eat too much. 😉

    • Christopher De Voss November 26, 2013 at 12:55 PM #

Happy Thanksgiving… (isn’t that the point?)

    • Christopher De Voss November 26, 2013 at 10:42 PM #

Weird. Anytime I look at your hand, I also want a sandwich.

      • pixiegirlkc52 November 27, 2013 at 7:44 AM #

Pass the mustard. It’s Hand sandwich time.
